Fan Art Submission Rules
Please review the rules before submitting fan art. These rules protect the site, artists, users, sponsors, and the community.
Accepted files
Accepted file types are JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WEBP. The maximum file size is 5 MB.
Artwork and ownership
Submit artwork that you created or have the right to submit. Do not submit stolen artwork, impersonations, private personal information, or unrelated copyrighted characters unless a future contest specifically allows it.
Ownership and display license
Artists keep ownership and copyright in their original artwork to the extent the law allows. Fan art may include characters, settings, logos, names, or other elements owned by a game publisher or other rights holder. The Art District cannot give artists, users, or sponsors ownership or copyright in those underlying game elements.
By submitting fan art, you grant The Art District | theartdistrict.co a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce as needed for technical display, resize, crop, thumbnail, publicly display, promote, and archive the submitted artwork in connection with the site, the related game page, fan art galleries, community features, editorial features, social posts, newsletters, contest pages, and contest archives.
If you submit artwork to a contest sponsored by a third party, you also grant that sponsor a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, promote, and archive the artwork in connection with that contest, including judging materials, sponsor review, winner announcements, contest pages, social posts, newsletters, and contest-result archives.
Neither The Art District nor a contest sponsor may sell the original artwork, prints of the artwork, merchandise based on the artwork, or standalone commercial products using the artwork unless the artist separately agrees in writing. The Art District and sponsors may not claim to be the creator or owner of the artist’s original contribution.
Subject matter limits
Do not submit hate content, pornographic or explicit material, graphic gore, targeted harassment, real-world political campaign material, political crossovers or propaganda, religious attacks or advocacy, spam, or content unrelated to the game or contest.
Age-rating alignment
Submitted artwork should be appropriate for the game’s age rating and content descriptors in the submitter’s jurisdiction. If no local rating system applies or no local rating is available, The Art District will use the ESRB rating and content descriptors as the default standard.
Review, re-review, and removal
All submissions are subject to review before publication. Approval does not guarantee permanent display on The Art District. If these rules change, previously approved or pending submissions may be reviewed again under the updated rules. Artwork that was acceptable under an earlier version may be removed, hidden, or returned to review if it no longer complies.
The Art District may also re-review any submission if a potential rule violation is later discovered, reported, or brought to our attention. If a violation was missed during the original review, the artwork may be removed or otherwise moderated even if it was previously approved.
Submission privileges
Submission privileges may be limited or removed if a user repeatedly submits spam, low-quality material, abusive content, misleading entries, copyrighted material they do not have permission to submit, or content that violates The Art District rules or submission guidelines.
Contests and sponsors
Fan art contests may include contest-specific rules, sponsor disclosures, eligibility requirements, prizes, judging criteria, sponsor review, and archive policies. Contest entries may later appear in the standard Fan Art gallery with notes showing the contest and placement, if any.Log in to acknowledge rules
